Screencastify

 


Integrating Google Slides and Screencastify sparked my imagination and curiosity.  The lesson involved applying knowledge of functions to determine whether they were linear or nonlinear.  The lesson also included making this determination from three different forms of data sets - tables, mapping documents and graphs.  Additionally, I applied the lessons learned from the Principles of Multimedia Learning to ensure that their cognitive extraneous load was minimized.  For example, I decided to remove the image of myself from the screen because there is no evidence that viewing the face of the instructor improves learning.  I also decided to use graphics and narration without text for most of the slides.  Finally, I presented narration with pictures for the introductory slides to ensure students were familiar with the content.
