Assessment as a Bridge Between Teaching and Learning

Educators constantly search for ways to engage students and assess their understanding of new content presented in class.  With the availability of tech tools such as Nearpod, teachers may add this app as an extension to lessons created with Google Slides.  The steps to create the formative assessment were simple.  I added a question type to the images of the different types of functions reviewed on each Slide.  As an exit ticket, I attached the video used in the introductory lesson to help students remember and record the definition of a function.  The Nearpod app records students' responses and this may be reviewed by the instructor to determine whether students may benefit from additional clarification or course correction immediately following the lesson.  This provides the teacher with an opportunity to reteach before students move on to the next concept or topic in the unit.
